Our nutrigenomic courses were developed to provide a global platform for the provision of progressive, cutting-edge, and credible nutrigenomics education for all health professionals. These courses are designed for health practitioners, educators and scientists; providing the training required to interpret a clients’ nutrigenetic results. Both courses were developed by Dr Yael Joffe, RD, PhD.  Yael Joffe is a registered dietician, Associate Professor at Rutgers University, and has been involved in several research collaborations with key academic partners around the world. She is also a lecturer for the Institute for Functional Medicine.

Foundational Nutrigenomics

The Foundations in Nutrigenomics course provides healthcare practitioner’s with the knowledge and skills to successfully integrate DNA testing into their clinical practice.   The introductory four-module course provides a review of relevant nutritional biochemistry and current nutrigenetic science, the use of commercial tests, and the interpretation of nutrigenetic results for patients. Each module includes recommended readings and resources, videos, a powerpoint based lecture, and an online quiz’

Translational Nutrigenomics

The Translational Nutrigenomics course is an advanced course that teaches the ability to critically interpret evidence-based research and empower practitioners to be able to independently construct dietary recommendations based on nutrigenetic results, the underlying biochemistry and its nutrigenomic impact. The ten-module course is unique in that it integrates the three pillars of:

Nutritional Biochemistry
Nutrigenetics (genetic variation) and
Nutrigenomics (how nutrients impact gene expression).

DECIDING BETWEEN THE TWO COURSES?
The Foundations in Nutrigenomics is exactly that  – foundational. It is an introductory course covering all the basics (and a bit more) to enable practitioners to confidently use nutrigenetic testing in their clinical practice. The focus is more on nutrigenetics than nutrigenomics, and the number of SNPs and the detail explored is less than in the advanced course. And of course, it can be completed in a significantly shorter time.

The Translational Nutrigenomcis course is an advanced course and can be compared to being taught at a Masters level. It explores in detail; nutritional biochemistry, nutrigenetics AND nutrigenomics. Whereas the Foundations course provides adequate training to be able to work with nutrigenetics tests, completing the Translational Nutrigenomic course provides the practitioner with sufficient knowledge to be regarded as a specialist practitioner in this field. It is possible to start with the Foundations course and upgrade to the Translational course, but if you are already looking to delve deeply into the nutrigenomic science, the Translational Course is the best choice.
